My New Foundation Palette!!!!

Finally my new foundation palette came in the post! I'm so exited! Its the Kryolan Ultrafoundation palette for Media, TV etc.

Been having fun mixing up different shades. This foundations coverage is amazing, so much better than shop bought foundations, although it is heavy so you would not want to wear this day to day.

Been really busy this week trying to juggle two uni costume projects and trying to finish my dissertation! my head is swimming, but I keep getting distracted by make up!!!!!!

Its Hammer Time :)

Had so much fun at the celebrations of birthdayness on friday night.

Felt like a proper grown up with wine, cocktails and a cheese selection lol.
The hair and make up went well considering we were in such a last minute made rush.

FIRST - the BEFORE picture. I apologise for the bad photos i didn't have time to take proper ones as guests started to arrive!)

(Note - I fully believe girls should use make up as decoration and NOT as a mask or as a crutch to your self confidence. Although I admit i'm not always comfortable with no make up on, i try to remind myself that appearance is not really who you are and i truly believe with all my heart that true beauty is totally within. When you are comfortable with what face god gave you, and stop slamming yourself for what you are not, can you really start to ENJOY make up as art and not as your confidence.)

I set my hair in rollers for 20 mins & added a white flower hairpiece I got for christmas.
My make up which you can't see very well is pale pink lips teamed with gunmetal and black eyeshadow with a dusting of glitter! And huge false eyelashes :)

My friend Katy I made more of an effort in her hair as she was the Birthday Girl.

I curled her entire head in 1 and 2 inch sections. Then back-combed and drew all her hair to the back of her head. I created a waterfall of loose curls and added a feathered fastinator to the side. Sprayed to fix.

I topped her look with L'oreal Infallible Red Lipstick in Beyonce :)

More hair! Vintage style.

It my best friends 21st birthday party tonight! Happening at my apartment. Just getting ready today clearing up the place, battling to throw out my dead christmas tree (pine needles everywhere urrhrhhh) and go shopping for posh nibbles. (its a black tie cocktail party)

I'm just thinking of what hairstyles to do on both her and myself. I want to find something vintage. Here are a few  images that are inspiring me.

Think i want to go with an updo though as you hardly get to rock that look seriously.

I'll post up the pics of what i finally decided to create later xxx

How to add some razzle dazzle to your hair.

Life can get a bit gloomy and drizzly in the winter after Christmas and new year have gone and there still no sign of spring!

I bought a little sparkly beaded hair piece a while back, it was only cheap so i added a couple more beads and some pearls to it to make it look a tad more expensive :)

Hair Style 1

I textured the hair and backcombed it gently into a messy beehive, pulling the hair to the right into a low side pony. I added a few random braids weaving around the head for an extra boho feel.

Hair Style 2

Smoothed all the hair back from the face and pulled hair into a pony at base of the neck. (you can pull it back straight or to the side your choice)
Then I looped sections of the ponytail back on themselves pinning into place. Take a couple of random 1inch sections and braid or twist, again folding back on themselves.
For the beaded piece I tucked under the headband ribbon and pinned the beaded section straight onto the head pressing flat.

Mist entire head with hairspray and woooooooooooo amazing sparkly glamour hair.

On the other hand ........

I also really wanna try the sun-kissed-dipped-your-hair-in-a-bucket-of-bleach look.

owwwwwwwwww see how my mind wonders when I am supposed to be writing my dissertation!!!!

Lots a love Jo-Em xx

New Hair Ideas...........

Ever since i saw TRON LEGACY last week ive been dribbling over this hair cut.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh to cut or not to cut? that is the question.

BARRY M Nail Varnish faves

Barry M is one of my favourite nail varnishes out there. There colour is so thick and shiny on your nails some people have asked if i had had acrylics done!

Anyway here a couple of my favourite shades -

306 - blueberry
307 - Lemon
308 - Berry
279 - Bright Pink
161 - Metallic Purple

Each costs £2.99 which makes them a perfect little pick me up when you've had a tough day, or a cheap way to change your outfit.

I bought a nail decoration kit a while back and found it thought id make this hand 80s tastic!!!!

HALLOWEEN 2010 (I know its late)

I found a pic of me and my little brother just before I took him trick or treating last October. We had half an hour to scrabble together outfits and make up.

I was a scary clown and he was a pirate.

                                                                      I love my little bro

More NYC make up

I also tried Sally Hensen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen. (what a mouthful)

Its a clickable pen nail varnish that comes in lots of shades.
I got 03 in Green Chrome.

It is a fun and different way to do your nails if your bored of a bottle. It really is FAST DRYING! the chrome green is a metallic colour and is really amazing on your fingers.

Priced at $8.75 which is probably the most I've spent on nail varnish but worth it for the novelty of the Gadget. :)

My next Favourite buy is REVLON 12 hour eye-shadow palettes!

Nice velvety colours which does last and comes in loads of different shades, so your sure to find a shade to suit your eye and skin colour.
PRICE - $6.99 I think there about £8 in England.

I got shade 09 Sterling Rose.
I bought one home for my mum as well as it would compliment her hazel grey eyes and silvery hair.

LOREAL TRUE MATCH

This little bottle is a gem of a foundation!
Mega blend-able, nice coverage that's so light you don't feel it but still makes your skin look fresh and unified. Was very happy with this buy. Comes in lots of shades with a COOL, NEUTRAL OR WARM undertone to chose from so it really hits the marker. I got W2 light ivory, because I am so pale in the winter i'm on the brink of death. I want to invest in a bottle a couple of shades darker to lift me into spring.

Lots of love Johannah-Emily xx

HAPPY NEW YEAR! My end of year update and NEW YORK city make up HAUL :)

Ahhh so 2010 did not end quite how I had pictured. I was very ill with flu and house bound for the two weeks up to christmas, i didnt get any of my uni work, make up videos or christmas shopping done.

Christmas was amazing with lots of family eating at my mommas house. I cooked christmas dinner for the 1st time ever!!! I  also designed and set up the feast table!! Which was really fun, with lots of glitter, pinecones and gold ribbons.

So after a royal stuffing and way to much chocolate, i finished packing for my week in NYC!!!

BUT we just happened to book flights on the one week a FREAK blizzard hits east America! Our flight was cancelled. But I'm a very determined young lady, and after waiting 12 hours at Heathrow Airport and getting my party of four, on 3 different standby lists for flights. (if you don't know what standby is your lucky, its where you don't have a seat on the plane but they make you wait at the departure gate just in case till the very last minute and if anyone doesn't turn up your shoved on!) Finally we got on a flight in the evening to JFK, only to be told mid flight JFK still wasn't open and we were landing over night in Minneapolis! So after a brief stay in Minnesota, and another day of delayed flights we arrived in JFK on the 28th, only to be held up on the tarmac for 3 hours, then a further 3 hours waiting for our luggage to arrive!

Anyway after all that drama i got to hit NYC for three days of shopping!!!!!!!

I got brand new UGGS!!!!

In a lush grey, just to mix it up as i've had two pairs of caramel brown before.

RIGHT onto the make up.........................................

LOREAL Infallible Lip Colour! in Beyonce. 399.
Absolutely the most intense pigmented red lip colour i have ever used. this stuff is beautiful. And it really really really lasts all day. I wore this on a day out around the city, ate breakfast and dinner, had drinks, went on the plane home, slept on the plane home. WAS STILL ON MY LIPS!!!! I never had to touch up the colour at all. All I needed to do was apply the moisturising balm stick a couple of times to refresh my lips.

Well worth the price at $10.99, i think it sells for about £10.99 in England. Although I have yet to find this shade over here.

This is how intense it is on my lips.
